Privacy Policy

ScrollSprout is an AI-powered microlearning app for iPhone and iPad, operated by Astherix Software (“we”, “us”, “our”). This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect when you use the ScrollSprout app and this website, how we use it, and the choices you have.

For the purposes of the Philippine Data Privacy Act of 2012 (Republic Act No. 10173) and similar laws, Astherix Software is the personal information controller responsible for your information. You can reach us, including our Data Protection Officer, at info@astherixsys.com.

We keep what we collect to the minimum needed to run ScrollSprout.

Account information

You sign in with Apple, Google or your email address. Depending on the method, we receive and store your email address, your name if the provider shares it, and a unique account identifier from the sign-in provider. If you use Sign in with Apple and choose to hide your email, we only receive Apple’s private relay address. We never see your Apple or Google password.

What you ask the AI

To create a learning journey or answer an Ask AI question, the app sends your request (the topic you type, an article link you share, or your question, together with the card it relates to) to our server. Our server passes it on to an AI provider and returns the response to your device. We don’t store the content of these requests or responses on our servers. If you share a link, the article it points to is read so that a journey can be built from it.

Subscription information

Purchases are made through Apple. We and our subscription provider, RevenueCat, receive information about your subscription, such as which plan you have, whether you’re in a free trial, renewal and expiry dates, and an app-specific purchaser identifier. We never receive your payment card or billing details.

Information that stays on your device

Your journeys, learning cards, bookmarks, recall items, quiz results, review schedule, progress and preferences (such as light or dark theme) are stored locally on your device. They are not uploaded to or synced with our servers, so we can’t see them, and they are removed if you delete the app. Review reminders are local notifications scheduled on your device; no notification data is sent to us.

Technical information

Like any internet service, when the app connects to our server, our hosting provider handles standard technical information such as your IP address and the time of the request. This is used only to deliver the service and keep it secure.

What we don’t collect

• We don’t use advertising, analytics or crash-reporting SDKs in the app.
• We don’t track you across other companies’ apps or websites.
• We don’t collect your location, contacts, photos, or health or financial information.

We use the information above to:

• create your account, sign you in and keep your account secure;
• generate learning journeys and answer your Ask AI questions;
• provide your subscription and free trial, and check whether you’re eligible for them;
• respond when you contact us for support;
• prevent fraud, abuse and misuse of the service; and
• meet our legal obligations.

We don’t use your information for advertising, we don’t build marketing profiles, and we don’t sell or rent your personal information to anyone.

Where the law requires a legal basis for processing, we rely on what’s needed to provide the service you asked for (performance of a contract), our legitimate interests in keeping ScrollSprout secure and working, compliance with legal obligations, and your consent where we ask for it.

ScrollSprout uses large language models from OpenAI, Anthropic and Google (Gemini) to generate learning content. Your request may be processed by any of these providers through their commercial API services. They process requests under their own terms and privacy policies, and may keep them for a limited period, for example to monitor for abuse.

Please avoid including sensitive personal information, such as health details, government ID numbers or passwords, in topics or questions you send. AI-generated content can be inaccurate; see our Terms of Service for more.

We share information only with service providers that help us run ScrollSprout, and only as much as each one needs:

• Railway: Hosts the ScrollSprout server that signs you in and relays AI requests.
• OpenAI: AI model provider: generates learning journeys and Ask AI answers.
• Anthropic: AI model provider: generates learning journeys and Ask AI answers.
• Google (Gemini): AI model provider: generates learning journeys and Ask AI answers.
• RevenueCat: Manages subscription status, free-trial eligibility and receipts.
• Apple: App Store distribution, payments, Sign in with Apple.
• Google: Sign in with Google, if you choose it.
• Vercel: Hosts this website.

We may also disclose information:

• if required by law, regulation, legal process or a valid government request;
• to protect the rights, safety or property of our users, the public or Astherix Software; or
• as part of a merger, acquisition or sale of assets, in which case this policy will continue to apply to your information.

Astherix Software is based in the Philippines. Our service providers may process information in other countries, including the United States, where data protection laws may differ from those where you live. When we use these providers, we rely on their data protection terms and take reasonable steps to make sure your information stays protected as described in this policy.

• Account information is kept while your account is active. When you delete your account, we delete it within 30 days, unless we’re legally required to keep something for longer.
• AI requests and responses are not stored by us. They exist on our server only while your request is being processed.
• Subscription records are kept by Apple and RevenueCat under their own retention policies, including as required for tax and accounting purposes.
• On-device data stays on your device until you delete it or remove the app.
• Support emails are kept for as long as needed to help you and for our records.

Under the Philippine Data Privacy Act, you have the right to be informed about how your personal information is processed, and to access, correct, object to processing, have your information erased or blocked, receive a copy in a portable format, and claim damages. Depending on where you live, for example in the European Union, the United Kingdom or California, you may have similar rights under local law.

Things you can do yourself

• Delete your account: open Settings in the app and choose to delete your account, or email us. See how to delete your account.
• Delete your learning data: it lives only on your device, so deleting the app removes it all.
• Notifications: turn review reminders on or off in your iPhone or iPad’s Settings → Notifications.
• Sign in with Apple: you can stop using it with ScrollSprout from your Apple Account settings.

Making a request

To exercise any of your rights, email info@astherixsys.com from the address linked to your account. We may need to verify your identity before acting on a request, and we’ll respond as soon as we can and within the time required by law.

If you’re not satisfied with our response, you can lodge a complaint with the National Privacy Commission of the Philippines, or with the data protection authority where you live.

Information sent between the app and our server is encrypted in transit, and we limit access to account information to what’s needed to operate ScrollSprout. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we can’t guarantee absolute security. If a data breach affects your personal information, we’ll notify you and the authorities as required by law.

ScrollSprout is not intended for children under 13, and we don’t knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child under 13 has given us personal information, contact us at info@astherixsys.com and we’ll delete it.

This website doesn’t use cookies, analytics or advertising trackers. If you choose light or dark mode, that preference is saved in your browser’s local storage and never sent to us. The site is hosted by Vercel, which processes standard request information such as IP addresses to deliver pages and protect against abuse. If you email us, we use your message and email address only to reply.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time, for example when we add features or when the law changes. We’ll post the new version on this page and update the “Last updated” date. If the changes are significant, we’ll also let you know in the app before they take effect.
